Aurora Technologies First to Market with StarFabric, PICMG 2.17 Compliant Switch
Brockton, MA - January 20, 2003 - New from Aurora Technologies, Inc., the CP-SFX8 Fabric Card provides a high-bandwidth and cost-effective solution for switching StarFabric in high-availability platforms.
Aurora's CP-SFX8 incorporates StarGen’s SG1010 switch devices, allowing users to implement a centralized fabric topology in a CompactPCI chassis. Available in a 6U design, the CP-SFX8 features eight links to a PICMG 2.17 compliant CompactPCI backplane and supports up to eight node cards within the chassis. The card also has two front panel links to connect to a second chassis for fully redundant, fault tolerance. The card's internal switch devices interconnect so node-to-node data encounters no more than two switch devices for low latency. Aurora's CP-SFX8 card provides a per port bandwidth of 5 Gbps and an aggregate bandwidth of 40 Gbps. The CP-SFX8 also features a PMC site that operates in monarch and non-monarch mode, and is
compatible with Microsoft® Windows® and Linux® operating systems.
Available as a standalone product, the CP-SFX8 Fabric Card also easily integrates with an eight-slot chassis and PICMG 2.17 compliant backplane from CG Mupac, Aurora's sister company, for a complete single vendor system solution designed to aid in StarFabric application development and reduce time to market.
Typical applications for Aurora's CP-SFX8 Fabric Card include: automated test equipment, clustering, communications (media gateways, blade servers), industrial control/automation, medical imaging, military (radar, imaging), PCI expansion, storage (NAS, SAN), and video/image processing.
“The CP-SFX8 Fabric Card’s power and flexibility brings next-generation switching to users’ StarFabric-enabled CompactPCI hardware and software today,” says Frank Fitzgerald, Director of Engineering at Aurora. “Using the CP-SFX8 you can design simple PICMG 2.17 solutions to connect to one or two chassis, or large, complex redundant switch fabrics, with high availability and increased bandwidth for your applications.”
The CP-SFX8 (P/N: 72-00106-01) is priced starting at $2,500. If you’re interested in purchasing this product, please contact Aurora’s Sales Department at info@auroratech.com or 508.588.6110.
