StarFabric Chief Architect Mayhew Selected to Speak on Advanced Switching at Intel Developer Forum
StarGen to Host Demonstration of Advanced Switching Capabilities and its Latest StarFabric Technology
Marlborough, MA - September 3, 2002 - StarGen, Inc., a fabless semiconductor company, today announced that chief StarFabric architect, David Mayhew, was selected to present in two courses discussing the impending PCI-Express Advanced Switching specification at the upcoming Intel Developer Forum (IDF) to be held September 9-12 at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, CA.
The Intel Developer Forum is the technology industry's premier event for hardware and software developers. Held worldwide throughout the year, IDF brings together key industry players to discuss cutting-edge technology and products for PCs, servers, communications equipment, and handheld clients.
Mayhew will present in both the Advanced Switching Hardware Architecture in Communications and the Communications Applications with Advanced Switching sessions. The PCIs207 Advanced Switching Hardware Architecture in Communications course will discuss the proposed Advanced Switching extensions to the PCI Express architecture and is scheduled for Wednesday, September 11 from 2:00pm - 2:50pm. The PCIs148 Communications Applications with Advanced Switching, scheduled for Wednesday, September 11 from 3:00pm - 3:50pm, will provide an update on the soon to be proposed Advanced Switching features for PCI Express architecture and how these features specifically apply to communications equipment.
"I am pleased to be a part of the IDF program, particularly because StarGen is playing a key role in the Advanced Switching specification development," said Mayhew. "Advanced Switching is going to be an important technology for the industry and we are happy to be providing the insight and experience we have gained through the development of StarFabric. StarFabric customers can anticipate that the future Advanced Switching specification will closely align with today's StarFabric capabilities while providing a path to 10Gbps applications and beyond."
StarGen plans to demonstrate its StarFabric architecture, which incorporates many features and capabilities that are expected to be included in the PCI Express Advanced Switching specification, at IDF in booth #433. StarGen's StarFabric, which is available and in full production now, is an industry open technology, with licensing available through membership in the StarFabric Trade Association (www.starfabric.org).
Recently, the StarFabric Trade Association announced that StarFabric architects have been participating in the development of the PCI Express Advanced Switching specification.
