Kaparel Corporation Becomes Founding Member StarFabric Trade Association
WATERLOO, Canada - May 21, 2002 The StarFabric Trade Association represents a wide range of organizations that are actively involved in the development of the StarFabric Architecture specification (PICMG 2.17) and will guide the future development and deployment of StarFabric switched interconnect technology. The goal is to promote the awareness and adoption of StarFabric.
The StarFabric founding members represent a broad and diverse prospective of industry leaders that will ensure that StarFabric continues to meet the dynamic market requirements of the next generation of embedded and communications products. The 22-founding members of the StarFabric Trade Association include companies like Agere Systems, Dy4 Systems, Fairchild Semiconductor, I-Bus-Phoenix, StarGen, and NMS Communications.
Commenting on the StarFabric announcement Kaparel's Chief Technology Officer, Ben Robitaille, said, "Kaparel is pleased to be a founding member of the StarFabric Trade Association, especially in light of our participation and activities with the PICMG 2.17 subcommittee and pending introduction of our PS4800 series 2.17 backplanes in the market." In addition to the PICMG 2.17 StarFabric subcommittee Kaparel is actively involved with the PICMG 3.0 AdvancedTCA subcommittee that includes the StarFabric 3.3 Specification that is currently underway.
Commenting on behalf of the StarFabric Association, Acting Director Greg Whelan stated, "We look forward to the founding members of the trade association like Kaparel, to leverage StarFabric as an interconnect technology offering end users a wide range of rapid-to-market products for embedded distributed processing applications."
The StarFabric Trade Association is currently putting together their Board of Directors that will elect the executive officers as well as elect Chairs for the technical and marketing working groups that are nominated by the member companies.
