StarGen Appoints Former Mitel Semiconductor Sales Director to New Post of Director of Western Regional Sales
DeFrain to Help Address Western U.S. Market Opportunity for StarFabric
MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - December 10, 2001 - StarGen, Inc., a fabless semiconductor company, today announced that Steven DeFrain has joined the company as director of western regional sales. DeFrain will be responsible for establishing and managing StarGen's sales operations in the western United States to help drive the sales of StarGen's StarFabric technology components.
DeFrain brings more than seventeen years of experience in the semiconductor industry, including the last four years at Mitel Semiconductor, where he served as director of sales for the western United States, western Canada and South America. Prior to joining Mitel Semiconductor, DeFrain held various senior level marketing and sales positions at ABB HAFO, Inc., which was acquired by Mitel Semiconductor in 1996. Earlier in his career, DeFrain worked as an electrical engineer with Motorola Government Electronics Group, designing and testing devices used in aerospace applications.

StarGen specializes in standards compatible switch fabric components. Its StarFabric technology is a high-speed, point-to-point switched backplane and chassis-to-chassis interconnect solution.
DeFrain a native of California currently resides in Escondido, California. He holds a bachelor's of science degree in electrical engineering from San Diego State University.
